Wasatchspeedgoats 50k at Snowbird & Alta Ski Resort

Imagine running a karl Meltzer designed trail race in the steep Wasatch Mountain Range ! The Wasatchspeedgoats are in the process of attempting to establish a trail race approved by Alta and Snowbird Ski Resorts. Both resorts are extremely interested in having the pack of elite trail runners rolling through the rugged Mountains as soon as this summer. Further information coming! One scrape bahahaha!
It's a long way from the bayous of Louisiana, but Hurricane Katrina evacuees will get a taste of Utah's Wasatch Mountains on Friday as they ride Snowbird's aerial tramway as guests of the ski and summer resort. (photo: FTO/Marc Guido)

Looks like we are on for July 21, 2007 for the inaugural Wasatchspeedgoat 50k !!!!!!!! Get ready for some vertical ~~

  1. That would be awesome! Count me in – hopefully it doesn’t open this year, my flying schedule is full.

  2. Steve, skip Hardrock… this is the INAUGURAL WSG 50k!! Let’s the priorities straight!

btw – I’m 32nd on the wait list at HR….

    mmmbaaaaaaah

  3. Hot damn! nothin’ better than a race put on by racers! This should be a real doozie! I’m doing Voyageur 50m the week after, but definitely look to do this next year. I have a good buddy that lives near the Wasatch and is a backcountry skier. Sounds like the makings of a good trip.

Check out my post, I think you’ll get a mule kick out of it!

  4. Ironically I live not far from Minneapolis/St.Paul, although I do sound like some country bumpkin. Must be all the time spent outdoors. Elwood would be jubilated to be a mascot. He’s pretty sophisticated, give him oats and a scratch on the beard and a can to kick, he’s livin the highlife, none of that deliverance style lovin though :0

My colleague and I could come up with some cool lookin logo or awards based on the Elwood since we’re art teachers. We made some cool lookin ceramic sculptures, pots, and B&W prints for my race awards. I’ve also done some designs for other race logos and buckle.

    adios~ Utes!

  5. Guys, this is great news! Looking forward to your first event at the Bird. I’ll help ya promote the heck out of the race online through WSG and a bunch of other sites!

  6. Scott an Karl,

Didn’t make the cut at the Wasatch 100 lottery this year but still need my yearly wasatch front fix. Sounds like fun. If I can get my butt out of the office chair and train enough to not shame you guys please save me a spot.

P.S. I can’t tell Karl enough how proud I am of him for getting his dues as UR runner of the year. I’ve watched his ass get smaller and smaller into the horizon for about 15 years now and I have always known what a great runner he is. It’s about time the rest of the world knows.

  7. WSG’s,
Sounds like a blast, I can’t wait for the inaugural sufferfest.
Let me know if you need some maps done,
