LEAN FORWARD AND PUNCH IT! A downhill running tip to make up time in your next Ultra. Many races I have run always have a downhill section where the majority of racers lose time. The real key to running downhill is like skiing. You must stand on the center of your ski. The same applies to running downhill. If you stay a little low to the ground and use slightly smaller steps, one will feel less tired and will not hammer the quad muscles as much. The real tip is to take the tangent line on all trails, up or down. Many runners follow the “bike route” where the smoothest line is. Take the straight line and pass the bikers! It takes practice, so get out there and run! Wahsatchspeedgoat! Karl Meltzer Baaahhhhh !

Karl,
I have been toying with an idea and I wanted to run it by you. About six months age I was trying to find a running club to join. I live in Heber and can’t find a thing in the way of teams, clubs, or running buddies (my last one is now a father of three and running is not high on the list). Anyway I wanted to form a running club and call it the “Wasatch Mountian Goat running club”. Then I found your blog and I did know what to do because you are using a very similar title. Here is my question, would you be interested in helping me form a running club or can I use the Wasatch Mountian Goat title for the name of the club. Pleas let me know what you think or if a club already has been formed. This blog might be the team blog for all I know. Anyway I will be looking for your responce.
Josh
