Beginning August 5th on the summit of Mt. Kathadin I will begin my quest to run to Georgia faster than anyone else has. Andrew Thompson currently holds the record of 47 days and change. A stiff record that will be tough to challenge. GPS tracking and daily updates will give the world a chance to watch a goat run through the woods…all day long! Any takers or supporters out there? I welcome any assistance, but will NOT be muled in any form. To leave a comment . -Speedgoat Karl

GO SPEEDGOAT!
I’m psyched for you to tackle this monster challenge. You’ll need to get in touch with David Horton to pick his brain for all sorts of data. Sam Thompson would also be a good resource.
I know it’s going to be tough any way you slice it, but is there a consensus on whether it’s tougher north-south or south-north?

Karl…
Deb and I will try and support you as best as we can. Living back in NH, we are not very far from where you will be passing through.
Good luck with the planning of this huge event. Andrew (AT) Thompson is a friend of ours and it took him years and many tries to get the record, so it’s not going to be easy. You have the speed, but will need more than speed to get you through the hot humid days and mosquitoes as you travel south.

Karl, we’ve got you covered here in Georgia. I’ll be happy to help out with support, etc. By the time you reach GA, you’ll probably need a beer or two as well. Just be careful out there…unfortunately, it seems the AT is turning into a place where wierdos like to do their dirty work–we’re all still a little shell shocked over the events of the past week. I run the AT portion of Blood Mountain by myself all of the time. I’ll be more cautious for sure.
Just let me know what you’ll need.
Karl,
ME-GA 2008 under 47 days. You can do the whole thing on Snicker bars. One Snicker bar per hour for 24 hours times 47 days is 1128 Snicker bars.
Let me know what’s up.
Billy
Karl-
Consider yourself covered in Nawth Carolina. Looking forward to it. I guess this means Mont-Blanc is out??? Cheers
Mike
I am in for helping out with support while you are in NC.

Mont Blanc is out, I plan to return to the Ultimate Tour in 2009. I’ll miss it this year, but the AT mission needs to be done first. -Karl
Karl,
I’ll help you out in the rural parts of Virginia around Pearisburg to Damascus.
All this support is killer. I will get a hold of all of you when the time comes! This will not only be a great run, but a “clean the AT” project as well. Time to give back to the running gods! -Speedgoatkarl
