Wasatch Running Center 1

The Wasatch Running Center is blowing out some running gear from February 2 – 8, if you need to re-up your shoe inventory or winter running cloths this would be a great time to visit Glenn at 8946 South State Street Sandy, Utah 84070. Glenn’s store is stocked for the Ultrarunner with all the hard to find products like e-caps, gu, recovery products and a huge line of trail shoes!

Speed Goat of the Year, the race is on! 2

The race tightens up for Speed Goat of the year! I am going to leave voting open until Saturday, February 2nd at 5:00 p.m. What’s unique about the award is the readers of Wasatchspeedgoat.com decide Speed Goat of the Year not a small panel of voters!

Please review 2007 performance page before voting if you are not familiar with the runners results for the calender year!
Stay tuned for an interview with original Wasatch Goat Rick Gates who finished over 20 consecutive Wasatch 100 races. Rick was running ultras before there were trail shoes, Gu, e-caps and all the other stuff that lets us run faster?

Registration is open for the Speedgoat 50k at beautiful Snowbird Ski Resort on July 26, 2008.

Voting for the Speed Goat of the year can also be posted at Trail Running Gear.com

H.U.R.T. Race 2008 3

The race is pau! That’s Hawaiian for finished. It was a great race with a lot of Aloha. We were fortunate to have the Hawaiian blessing of rain (and wind) at certain times throughout the race. This pleased some H.U.R.T. people because according to those who marked the trail on Friday, the course was just way too dry. As we say, “We wouldn’t want this to be easy!”In all seriousness, we appreciate the participants for all their efforts, the volunteers, and all of the support we received in order to make this race a great success! There will be some truly great stories that will be told from the race.

    Red Hot 50k 6

Here we go ready to start the trail season down in Moab, Ut. for the Red Hot 50k! On February 16, 2008 race director Chris Martinez is putting on a killer 50k or a 33k trail race in the cool red rocks of Moab. If you want a great early season race this is one to try, the big rock the last 17 miles gave me some toe bang last year as Karl Meltzer smoked the field followed by his wife Cheryl crossing the finish line in her socks? The best part of the race was the party later that evening in Moab!

    Appalachian Trail Record Attempt 10

Beginning August 5th on the summit of Mt. Kathadin I will begin my quest to run to Georgia faster than anyone else has. Andrew Thompson currently holds the record of 47 days and change. A stiff record that will be tough to challenge. GPS tracking and daily updates will give the world a chance to watch a goat run through the woods…all day long! Any takers or supporters out there? I welcome any assistance, but will NOT be muled in any form. To leave a comment . –Speedgoat Karl
