Wasatchspeedgoat 50K is now tucked away.
Check out these scenic photos of the Wasatchspeedgoat 50k!
Petra McDowell and Corbin Talley set the pace this year, as the standard is now set for the future at the Speedgoat 50K. Next year new trails are in the works to eliminate some confusion on the route. Remember Alta bailed on us at the last minute and because of it more marshals were needed along the course. Snowbird CEO Bob Bonar was thrilled with the race and plans on working a new trail to Mary Ellen Gulch, (Another Canyon off the back of Mineral Basin). If this addition happens, the course will be even more beautiful than this year. Another route has also been proposed eliminating the ski run from the top of Gad II. We are hoping to create a twisting, less steep route. Into hibernation, goats! For those who want another great race in a few weeks. El Vacquero Loco in Star Valley is another winner! Baaahhhhhh! 10 scrapes~! -Wahsatchspeedgoat

Hey Guys,
I ended up with a Black Diamond banner in my cooool pack I won. I’m thinking you didn’t want it in there. How should I return it???
Thanks again for an awesome day. I’m still talking about it!

Hi guys,
Thanks for a great “get high 50K” (or whatever the distance), the climbing made up for it. Kudos for the powerbar gels, s caps, and pro bars at the aid stations, energy to the max. The El Vacquero Loco course is another awesome venue, big vert (9000 or so) for the 50K, with spectacular high mountain scenery, big peaks, lakes, etc… Ty puts on a great race and he offers a 25K for those not brave enough to run the full 50K. Another great warm up for the fall races, one month before wasatch.

Thanks again for a great race. The changes for next year sound perfect. I haven’t been this sore after a race in a long time! I feel much better after running the DesNews Marathon though. It’s nice to have those little recovery runs
I found another SpeedGoat at the start to run that one with. Thanks Lex you made for a very enjoyable run!

Hey Scott,
I think I’ll go to Wasatch Running on Friday and take advantage of the Nathan offer. What if I leave the banner with Glen and either you or Karl could pick it up next time you’re in the store?

Karl…not a WSG 50k comment…
I am wondering if you ever use a pacer? I had a really bad experience a couple of years ago at MMT100 and haven’t used one since. I don’t know if they can help me or not. I guess that there are positives and negatives. Hasta!

I no longer use pacer’s it took a few 100s to reach that point, WSG
Karl taught to just run and not worry about pacers, so I did and I have less down time and faster results!

GOATS—
Still can’t get over my WSG50K experience! Wow-what a scenic, challenging and fun course! Aid station attendants and course marshals were so helpful. It seemed the word of the day on the trails was “BEER”–my kind of people! My only regret is that I didn’t spend time at the finish line getting to know my GOAT homeys—-I wandered away just a bit delerious. Thanks also to Jim Skaggs for being my downhill guru, and also thanks “Dollarman” for , ya know, lending me a dollar. I will definitely be there for next years GET HIGH 50K.

Dee, yes leave the banner with Glen at the store, that would be great!
Moogy, I no longer use pacers because they are just another person to worry about, I have had a few experience dropping them and after that I figured I would just turn up the music and dance my way to the finish. Ultimately no pacer could be a drill sargent to me, I would just run how I wanted anyway. Go it alone, we shouldn’t be muled anywhere, even if the pacer is not carrying anything. Wahsatchspeedgoat
