The Bighorn 100

IS BIGHORN ONLY 2 WEEKS AWAY? I think I had better start running again. The competition will be fierce at Bighorn this year with easily the strongest field to date. Lon Freemen (Miwok winner and new record holder), Mike Wolfe (White River 50 Champ), Josh
Brimhall (Fast guy always), Wahsatchspeedgoat (getting tired) Matt Hart (mystery man), Bay area Beach Slug (always getting faster) and a number of others I can’t fit on this paragraph that will contend for the lead. Let’s hope for some record heat to steam it up a
little! 10 scrapes for anyone who picks the winner!,What does that mean, nothing really. Baaaahhhh! 3 scrapes…. Wahsatchspeedgoat

That’s a hell of a start list. Good luck to all.

Is Lon really running Bighorn a weekend before Western States? Or was this his backup race if he didn’t qualify for WS by winning Miwok?

  4. Brennen Says:

My guess — and I’ve been wrong before — is Lon Freeman won’t being running. After getting into Western States via his win at Miwok, I think he’ll be focusing on a mad gallop through the Sierras. Hart said on his blog he’s dropping to the 50K. Look out for Phil Shaw, though, who won Cascade Crest last year.

    Have great races, ‘goats.

WasatchSpeedGoat, Freemen, Mason, Hall will all (2nd - 4th?) beat my sorry a$$ by at least # hrs. Fill in the blank (just not double digits). ;) Good luck goats!!

  8. olga Says:

See you boyz there, I finally started to get excited!!!

  9. Karl Says:

YOu are all right, Freeman probably is running Western since he got in, And I do know of Phil Shaw, I just forgot to put him on my list, he can take the place of Freeman~ Wahsatchspeedgoat

  10. Wynn Says:

1st: Goatboy (although the 100miler speed may be wanning; 10 in the last 16 months at breakneck pace, absolutely impressive).

2nd: Brimhall (fresh legs, speed, youth, diaper dandy) Getting close to earning those 100mile stripes.

3rd: MIke Wolfe ( either primed or looking like the uni-bomber. Haven’t heard much since White River/Teton).

    4th: Phil Shaw (darkhorse)

If Lon Freeman was in the race I would predict 1st place, especially after Miwok. Eventually fresh legs are going to catch up.

  12. Bay Area Beach Slug Says:

Bay Area Beach Slug will not be there. I’ll be sending slluggish vibes in the direction of your competition, though.

Best of luck — have a blast running up that 18-mile canyon at dusk. One of my favorite places on the planet (that and the beer shelf in the refrigerator). Buuurp!
